WWLP: Massachusetts' travel and tourism industry is starting to pick-up again, and believe it or not, the state may owe this to the writers and producers in Hollywood. If it were not for their interest in filming their movies here in our state, it is possible our economy could be in worse shape. Governor Patrick spoke at a conference on Wednesday, which was organized by the Massachusetts' Office of Travel and Tourism.
He said movies like "The Fighter", starring Mark Wahlberg, and "The Social Network" have only renewed people's interest in Massachusetts. The Governor also announced that three or more Hollywood movies are being filmed here this year.
Aside from our state's popular film locations, however, the main tourists attractions range from the Berkshires to Boston. Between the Berkshire slopes, to Tanglewood, the Basketball Hall of Fame, Fenway, historic Boston, and of course the beautiful beaches of Cape Cod and the Islands--we truly have it all here in Massachusetts!
This spike in the tourism industry certainly serves as hopeful news to business owners who have been struggling during these tough economic times. If things continue to look up, we'll all be "thanking the Academy".
