My First Circle Hem!

I'm SO proud of myself. I had gotten a hand-me-down from my mom more than a few months ago. It's sat in the back of my closet because despite the fact that I LOVED the print, I hated the length. I'm a teenage girl. I'm not about to go wear an ankle length dress out somewhere. Duh.
Since I was in a crafty-sewey mood, I decided to actually do something. I found a video on Youtube called Narrow Hemming A Circle Skirt. So helpful!
Here's some before photos:

Yes I am standing on the toilet. 4' 11.5" and I stopped growing. Oh boy.

 Isn't she helpful?

I measured 9 1/2 inches from the current hem and put pins in there all the way around.

I marked directly over the pin so I got a nice clean, sharp line before I took the pins out.

Hmmm. Ancient iron or the new-ish one. I'll go for the new.ish. I folded at all the red lines and then ironed it.

Of Course I'd use brown for the bobbin. I was too lazy to fill a black one.

After I was done sewing, I cut all the extra fabric off... and made a little mistake. Whoopsie!
All done! No, I probably would NEVER wear this skirt with a purple tank top into public. I just pose in them for pictures on my blog. Makes sense right?
Anyway this is one of those skirts that looks better with your shirt tucked in... and it wasn't tucked here. But still... I'm so proud of myself! Woot woot. Now, I'm tempted to go hem the rest of my "to hem" projects. Yeah, I do have a stack of those.
