In order to use the service, passengers will need to enter their last name and either their Bag Tag Number or File Reference Number.
After entering that information passengers will be shown a table of what has happened with their bags since they were checked, including what their current status is. Some passengers are using the service in concert with Delta's in flight wifi service to see if their bags made it onto their flight.
The service goes one step further for members of Delta's SkyMiles customer rewards program. Customers who belong to that service will be able to sign up for "Last-minute updates" which will provide them with alerts about the status of their baggage.
