Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Today's been a bit of an eye opener. The parent of yet another student at my school died. The kid was a senior. He was going to be in the school play. It was pretty much guaranteed that he'd get the lead. I don't know any details but I'm almost positive that it was horrific and tragic. I realized how quickly we can lose someone.

About two weeks ago, I woke up to some bumping and groaning going on downstairs. I had just fallen back asleep after my mom and sister had gone to church. From the noise, I knew it was my dad and I knew it wasn't good. I ran downstairs to find him laying on the floor, rolling around. He's a severe diabetic and had extremely low blood sugar. Well it affects your brain so he couldn't think straight or even stand or sit up without tipping over. I tried to give him some orange juice but that turned into a mess since he couldn't swallow anything and lapped it up like a puppy. Since my mom had left her phone in the car, I couldn't text or call her. Once my dad started running around, I knew there was no way I could get him to eat anything. I had to call 911. He told me not to but I couldn't take him seriously at that moment. I did and about 10 minutes later, the ambulence pulled up with no lights and no siren. I feel like they took their sweet time. Two HUGE guys walk into my house. And let's just say, I was still in my pajamas, my hair was a mess, and I had smeared lip stick from a cheer competiton the day before still on my face. I was quite a sight to say the least. Anyway, they start fiddling with him and then two MORE huge guys walk in. In was just great. Then they told me that I should have filmed him rolling around on the floor. Yep, that's my first thought. "Dad's on the floor. Grab my camera." No.

Anyway, that just made me realize just how scary things can be. I've had quite a few times were he's blacked out and even hurt himself in the process but my mom was always there so I didn't have to handle it alone. The whorst part is, my little sister has had to call 911 for him while he was watching her at least 3 times. The first time happened when she was about 7 or 8!

Tomorrow I have the last cheer competition that I'll be competing in for this year. Although, if we make it to states, I may get lucky and get to compete.
Oh well wish us luck and please send prayers to the family who lost their father.
