So, if I'm Manning, here is my thinking:
I've got maybe 3-4 good years left, so that means I'm probably going to have to go through the Pats every year for a shot at the SB. Of the remaining teams, who stands the best chance of beating them? Miami. Typically Miami plays them hard and they even sometimes manage a win. Keep in mind that they've been doing that with no QB. The defense is familiar with Brady and the offense can for the most part stay within striking distance. You have to figure with Manning and possibly FA, Reggie Wayne, they'd have a legit shot at beating NE every time they played. Plus, the Jets are imploding, and the Bills appear to be a little further off than everyone thought. That makes it essentially a two (Mr.) horse race. Denver just got pummeled by NE. You can't lay that all at Tebow's feet either. The defense was shredded. Manning doesn't want to have to score 45 against the Pats to have a shot at winning.
AZ can be ruled out as Manning didn't want to go to the NFC. Plus, teams in the division are getting better and better. I'd assume this would also rule out the 49ers, but who knows. If he doesn't think they're a one-hit wonder, maybe you roll the dice and go there. Tennessee is a possibility, but you're in the same division as the Texans (who are good, real good). I'd rather play for Houston than against them. Also, by joining that division, you're essentially waving a middle finger at the franchise you just gave hugs and kisses to. Manning doesn't seem like that kind of guy (Tom Brady would do something like that because he's a cock sucker).
Miami makes the most sense, please go there.
Fondly,
Gap
