Count Time
You can imitate him, but you can’t duplicate him: Dracula is coming back to reclaim his place in the spotlight.
NBC has ordered 10 episodes of a new drama titled Dracula from the producers of the PBS hit Downton Abbey.
The project, set in 1896, will star Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Showtime’s The Tudors).
“In the world of Twilight, we thought we would go back to the original. The book is still really fresh,” said Bob Greenblatt, the Peacock’s chairman of Entertainment. “Hopefully this will be a cool new version. [The show] will be faithful to the period but look to the future.”
Here’s to hoping Dracula connects – NBC could use a hit – and, more importantly, that carrying a network show doesn’t prove to be too stressing a challenge for its lead (JRM reportedly has been struggling with some demons for a bit now).
