Craft Room Inspiration

We've been slowly working away at making our house beautiful again... I mean hey, we've only lived here 17 years! I'm not even 17... anyways, the next total redo room on our list is the craft room. I mean I cleaned it up and you can find a lot of photos about that here.

But it honestly doesn't quite look this pretty anymore.

I mean there's a giant roll of batting that for some reason is being lain across my sewing table. The fabric stacks are really getting jumbled. And the long table to the left that I selectively cut out of this picture is still a giant mess. I have about 5 empty feed sacks laying there waiting to be bag-afied.

I want a permanent solution! We're planning on painting the room and offically cleaning the stuff that wasn't cleaned up before.

Well I couldn't find anything else I liked.

Anyone have any ideas on what I should do?
I'm pushing for either grey and yellow or aqua and red (or coral). My sister wants aqua and pink. I tried to reason with her saying that coral is a shade of pink. She just wasn't having it. UGH.

But I've already found some great, free printables I want to hang up! I found most of these through just google images so I don't really know (or remember!) where I found them. If they're yours, just say so and I'll post a link!

I also found a bunch of life related printables that I may just put up because I like them. Not because they have any relation to crafting at all.

My Monday Top Four

Okay is it just me or was today a great day in blogland? Well as I was just browsing this morning before leaving, I came across way too many great projects. Like way too many. So I felt the need to share some of my favorites!

Is this cool or what? It looks like a lot of work but it has some great end results. I feel like I may be digging in my rock garden later today to make this baby.

I'm feeling the need to make quite a few of these for some upcoming baby showers! Too cute!
I'm totally obsessed with these pom poms! And the ombre just makes it better and is so easy!
I love wreathes and this one is just so great!

I've been featured!

We all LOVE being featured don't we? Well today I got a BIG feature at a great little blog. You can find a post all about me over at Silo Hill Farm.
Danni over there is just the sweetest lady! Go check out her blog. She's the coolest! She even jumped on the washi tape train. That's one I've yet to get into. Probably out of laziness. Maybe I'll try it.
Go check out the post now!

I've got nothing really interesting here today since I'm supposed to be studying for exams. Supposed to be.

Anyway, if anyone is interesting in guest posting, I'd love to have them during my vacation from the end of June to beginning of July. Seriously. Come on! Just shoot me an email at Margaret_Michel (at) yahoo (dot) com.

Have you checked out Danni's Blog yet? Go on now! I need to study.

My Latest Find :)

I just discovered a cute little blog and I'm so glad I did! Lilly from Teen Sew has the greatest blog. If you didn't figure it out from her blog title, she's a teen too! Isn't that great? She's my new best friend... She just doesn't know it yet.
          Isn't she cute?

Check out this skirt she made:
I'm seriously in love with those ruffles!

She's been sharing all these free patterns that she's found around the web. I think a trip to Jo Ann's is in order.
Go check out Lilly right now at Teen Sew and leave her some comment love! Follow her too if you like!
I'm currently giddy at the moment.

This really is Time Well Spent

Today, I will be constructively spending my time in a well spent manner at Time Well Spent.

I'm sharing my shirt dresses which you can find herehere, and here. Let me just tell you that Suze is seriously one of the nicest bloggers I've met. She's so sweet and easy to work with! Her blog is just straight up adorable. She's a great photographer so you don't have to worry about blurry images on her blog. Plus, she's got two kiddos who sneak their adorable little selves into most posts. They're seriously too cute. Like way to cute.

Anyway, go check me out at Time Well Spent!
See you there :)

briar.claire

This post probably should have been posted a long time ago. Like back in April. That was two months ago.... whoops. I was looking through my old posts and saw this draft. It's about time I share :)

Ever seen their stuff? Well, go check it out! briar.claire has got some of the cutest stuff ever! I was lucky enough to win a $50 gift certificate to their etsy shop. I can't tell you how hard it was to pick what I wanted. They sent me an email saying my stuff would be shipped on the 13th. April 13th. Well sure enough, two days later, a little box arrived in the mail. A lot quicker than I expected!

Isn't it so cute? I just had to take a picture of it. My sister was mad because she just couldn't wait to tear it open!
She was not posing to my satisfaction so here's the only one of her wearing them.

Like the Easter decorations in the background? As I said. This post is two months late.

I also got about 4 or 5 other cute little headbands and hair clips. I just didn't take pictures of them. and I lost my camera. and I'm on vacation without my headbands. and so you can just go check them out yourself.

briar.claire also has a blog. Go check 'em out! Lots of awesome giveaways over there!

Aren't I supposed to feel different?

People always ask if you feel different after your birthday. My reply: no. I'm one year closer to driving but it's not like there's any big milestones that you reach when you turn 14. Last night I had a "party" although I wouldn't consider 3 friends, me, and my sister a party, though. We still had fun and that's what counts. Right?
At Made, I found a tutorial for ruffled steamers. Mine didn't turn out as ruffly as hers but let me tell you they were pretty darn easy! They look pretty cute if I do say so myself!

I swear if I see another ball of colored chocolatey goodness, I'm going to puke.
These were unbelievably amazing... until this occurred:

Every girl needs to have a backup pair of white shorts doesn't she? It's also a good idea to have a backup for your backup when you forgot to wash the backup after they somehow got bike oil on them.

I think my mom was under the impression I was turning 4 and not 14.

We decorated plain white T-shirts with paint and sharpies.  Super fun. I did some hand prints and a huge blob of green and blue paint. I drew a peacock head on and wallah. On the back I wrote some quotes out in cursive. Some of my friends just did some splatter paint and they all looked super cute. I think the idea actually turned out better than I thought it would.
For party favors I just made each of the girls a hair clip and then threw them in a bag with some silly string.

My mom was originally going to make me the same cake she makes me every year since my fourth birthday.  Here's last years:
Instead she got me this:

I was surprised, since I, unlike my sister, have not had a store bought birthday cake since my 3rd birthday. I guess I just needed a change.
Well, I guess that I'll just enjoy my birthday by myself since my whole family either has plans or is currently passed out with the curtains closed. Maybe I'll think of some crafty to do. I can just ignore the to do list my mom gave me. Seriously Mom? I'm not going to clean the bathroom on my birthday.

If you're fluent in Spanish (which I'm NOT) you can find me featured at Comparte tus Ecoideas. Basically a bunch of very cute, Eco friendly ideas over there. It's too early for me to translate the little Spanish that I do know. Especially since I just pulled an all nighter. Probably not the best idea...
You can also find me featured at The Crafty Cpa. I think being featured is probably one of the best blogger honors ever. I could barely sleep after I saw she featured me!
Just in time for my birthday, I won a gift card to Target from Very Jane over at Serving Pink Lemonade. Serving Pink Lemonade is an adorable blog. I heart it! And of course Very Jane has just about the cutest stuff ever.
                                                            Good birthday? I think so.

Happy/ Sad

Today was a sort of a tipsy day. Both good and bad. There wasn't one thing that ruined the whole day, but there wasn't something that brightened it either. Except for when some kid fell out of their chair and landed on their face.... but hey! That's mean!
Here's a lovely web cam photo (*cough* NOT) of a recent flower. It's been too long. I need to drag out my glue gun and get to work. Maybe over the weekend.
Well here's a bit of bad news I'll share. So unless you guys raise chickens like me, you're probably not going to understand this... or maybe you might. You never know! But today one of my girl's was murdered. Can anyone say BRUTALLY? Let's just say it took her head and left her body. Well then Mr. Possum couldn't escape so he got to have a little sleepover in the coop. Thankfully he only took one out of the four in my small coop. Well, as my sister named him, "Bill Mofo" is now dead. I started yelling uh... mean words at him and he looked guilty. He had to suffer the death penalty. Since the ground is so frozen, we couldn't bury her so she had to just be tossed it the woods. So R.I.P. Arianna Janelle. Yes, my chickens DO have middle names!

Anyway, on a MUCH more positive note, I won a giveaway over at U-Create. Go check her out pronto! Cutest stuff EVER is over there. Ahh I'm so excited to start shopping at Briar Claire. They've got extremely cute and reasonably priced hair accessories.

Project Thrive

Yes, here is the promised post! I know I've been bad and haven't shared too much of my crafting feats lately. There's not much to write about, so don't feel like you're missing anything. I somehow stumbled upon this. Don't know how, don't remember where. I clicked some link and Project Thrive popped up.  Well click the link then go to the 'Days for Girls' tab.
Anyway, you all know those "unmentionables" that for all those food and toiletries drives nobody really brings much of? Well Project Thrive Days for Girls is all about MAKING those for girls in Africa. Go check out their website. RIGHT NOW. All you sewers, new and old, it's perfect for you! I've looked at video instructions and even read some too. I just need material. I would already have made about a billion if I had the money to buy fabric. Oh well. I'll share it with you guys in hopes that someone else is willing to make some.
