Don’t Get It Twisted

Simma down now: Just because Queen Latifah performed at a gay event recently it doesn’t mean she was making some sort of statement about her own much-discussed sexuality – so don’t be getting any ideas.

A little background.... Last month, the Chicago Oscar nominee took the stage at Long Beach’s Lesbian & Gay Pride event, and some folks took it to mean she was finally taking a step toward coming out of the closet.

Not so fast – the multi-hyphenate has not and will not be making any public acknowledgements of the sort any time soon.

“I’ve never dealt with the question of my personal life in public,” she said. “It’s just not gonna happen.”

And that is her prerogative, but, really, do we care if she is a lesbian? Would it really, really hurt her standing in Hollywood or within the black community if she were to be an out lesbian? Is this not 2012?

In any case, let it will be, people. If she, or any entertainer, or anyone has anything to reveal, let them do so when they’re good and ready.

A Leg Thought

Does anyone get the feeling that Angelina Jolie showing a heckuva lot of femur at the Oscars over the weekend was a big ol’ f----you message to one Jennifer Aniston?

Or am I just reading a little too much into La Jolie’s now-infamous right leg, much like a tabloid would?
