Monday Morning Thoughts

Is there anything worse than the sudden realization that you turned off your alarm instead of hitting the snooze button? Your alarm goes off and you know you can get another 10 minutes of nappy time before actually hopping out of bed. But just as you're settling back in, your mind nudges you and goes 'Hey, buddy, we did that wrong. You're gonna have to get up NOW!' Fuuuuuck...

... Steelers lost. Not gonna rub it in because the media is going to do that ALL DAY. Instead in the hope that the Pats can actually beat them at home, I will simply hold off on my 2012 Pats season eulogy another week until the Ravens come to town. Of the four teams I rooted for this weekend, only one got the win. Stupid Falcons, Lions, and Bengals all went ahead and lost. Thought from each game: Could it be that Matt Ryan just isn't good enough to win in the playoffs? He simply doesn't seem to have that next level to his game, he's just gonna go anywhere from 13-3 to 10-6 every regular season and lose in the postseason immediately. Megatron is one of the two best wide receivers in all of football, with the other being Larry Fitzgerald. I won't make the jump to saying he's the absolute #1, but he and Fitz are 1 and 1a. Arian Foster is amazing. Jimbo was right to fall in love with him...

... Caught two lovely little movies this weekend. The first was Cowboys & Aliens which, like Super 8, managed to capture all the fun of a summer blockbuster. Harrison Ford was awesome, Daniel Craig was adequate (and sculpted Mr. Bond), and Olivia Wilde was lovely as usual. The only things keeping it from being amazing were the annoying plot twist 2/3's of the way through and Sam Rockwell being half a fag. The other movie, A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, was a complete surprise. I thought it would be a nice little time waster with seemingly guaranteed nudity. Instead I got a very good, very funny 90+ minutes. Top notch comedy that touched on a romance but didn't get weighed down in it like Knocked Up (dead after the earthquake) or Wedding Crashers (unwatchable after they're discovered). And it cemented my mancrush on Jason Sudeikis, which has been growing for awhile now.
